Canon
So I went into the Canon service center today. I asked them how much it would cost to fix my camera. Canon is infamous for their Error 99 problem. They quoted me like $200. I later asked them how much would it cost to fix my 50mm lens, and they said $90 bucks. So, I just walked out and said I would think about it. Canon really needs to do something about the Error 99 issues. If you do a quick search on google, you can find that there are tons of customers that have been experiencing this problem. I am planning on upgrading from my 30D to a 5D Mark II, but now I am really considering purchasing a Nikon due to that error problem with Canon. Oh btw, I was able to fix my lens today. After I got home, I was so frustrated that I was just tweaking and adjusting the 50mm back and forth. I was thinking the reason why the auto focus wouldn't work was due to some dust particles stuck in the rotary track or something. So I thought if I kept twisting it back and forth, it would loosen any dust particles stuck in it. And guess what, it worked! The auto focus on my lens is working fine now. But my camera still gets the Error 99 problem after every 3 or 4 shots =/ O well. I emailed Canon's corporate office and complained a bit. I wonder if they will even respond...
